The Government of Manitoba announced the passage of the New Pharmaceutical Act and Regulations today, stating that it will come into effect in the New Year. The news release can be viewed at here. The Manitoba Society of Pharmacists would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all those who participated in making this achievement possible. MSP has been dedicated to seeing the Act and Regulations become a reality, and we have worked diligently on behalf of the members to see it happen. It is indeed a proud day for pharmacists in the province of Manitoba. Our congratulations and appreciation goes out to the Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association, the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (MB Branch) and Manitoba Health for working collaboratively with MSP and stakeholders to achieve this goal. We would also like to congratulate MPhA as they transition to the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba. MSP will continue to work on initiatives that will support our members as they transition to the new scope of practice. As well trained medication experts, practicing to full scope of practice, pharmacists will be able to have an even greater impact on patient care and positive health outcomes for all Manitobans. MSP remains committed to working collaboratively with Manitoba Health regarding recognition and compensation for professional services.
