Learners will be invited to review the recommendations and rationale from Indigenous communities regarding Indigenous representation in healthcare and understand the definition, and practice of collaboration strategies, of Indigenous-led and determined perspectives.
Finally, attendees will be introduced to the purpose, role, and immeasurable value that Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and Elders perform in the health and well-being of Indigenous communities and as advisors to non-Indigenous organizations and institutions.
Learning Objectives:
Amy Lamb, BSP, Executive Director, Indigenous Pharmacy Professionals of Canada.
Amy Lamb is the Executive Director of the Indigenous Pharmacy Professionals of Canada, an association that represents pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants, or students of those programs, who have proof of Indigenous ancestry. As a Métis woman and longstanding pharmacy advocate, Amy operationalizes IPPC’s mission “to cultivate a thriving and empowered community of Indigenous Pharmacy Professionals to support safe and equitable care of patients, families, and communities”. This work is currently rooted in Indigenous health and cultural competencies, NIHB reform, and increased representation of Indigenous professionals in healthcare and leadership. Amy has been a community pharmacist since 2012 and currently serves as the Director of Northern Health for WillowGrove Pharmacy in her hometown of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, where she supports the pharmacy’s supply and support to remote Indigenous communities. Amy’s role includes traveling to Indigenous communities, providing clinical and primary care support to health teams, as well as attending and contributing to community events. She is a passionate advocate for urban Indigenous and equity-deserving populations, and serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the YWCA Prince Albert.
Amy is also the owner of Lamb and Sage Personalized Health Solutions, which provides holistic health consulting and coaching, as well as pharmacy practice consulting, in her areas of expertise including Compounding, Functional Medicine, Health Coaching, and Women's Health.
