The Bowl of Hygeia Award is presented in recognition of the time and personal sacrifice devoted by pharmacists to the welfare of their respective community. This award was established in 1958 and awarded to a pharmacist for outstanding community service.

Bowl of Hygeia: Arnold Chew

Arnold Chew graduated in 1989 from the University of British Columbia (BSc.Pharm) and received his MBA in 1991 from McGill University.

He was the Pharmacist/Manager of the McGill/ Orme Victoria Shoppers Drug Mart in Saskatoon from 1990 to 1993. Arnold then became the Pharmacist Owner of the Shoppers Drug Mart Tuxedo from 1993 to 2019. He now works at the Shoppers Drug Mart Osborne and Grant Park in addition to being the Regional Manager of the RBC Convention Centre Vaccination supersite. 

Committees past and present include PEBC chief examiner 2000-present, Chair of the United Way Victoria Chapter 1990, Mood Disorders of Manitoba Chair Person 2010-2019, Shoppers Drug Mart run for Women, Bobby Hull Foundation for Children 2015, a contributor to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (monies raised have totaled in excess of $250k).

Arnold has been married for 30 years (spouse is a veterinarian/clinic owner of 22 years). Their cat runs the house!
