P-glycoprotein Drug Interactions with QT Prolonging Medications

Dr. Mark Friesen is extended practice pharmacist in Winnipeg in the area critical care. He has practiced for 9 years at Grace Hospital Intensive Care Unit, and prior to that for 8 years at Health Sciences Centre Coronary Care Unit. He has received his BScPharm (1994), and MSc  (1997)  from the University of Manitoba., and his PharmD (1999) from the University of Toronto. Mark has developed an interest in QT prolonging medications, and in the drug interactions associated with them.

In this session we will review the mechanisms, risk factors, clinical significance, and monitoring of P-glycoprotein drug interactions with QT prolonging medications.
