She is currently a staff pharmacist practicing at the Victoria General Hospital, the site for bariatric surgery in Manitoba.

Andrea Rodrigue is the Manager of the Centre for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, MB and has been the Manager since the inception of the clinic in 2012. This program provides bariatric surgery to eligible patients throughout the Province of Manitoba. She also is the Manager for the Diabetes Education Centre and Clinical Nutrition Site Leader at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. Andrea is a Registered Dietitian and graduate from the University of Manitoba. Over the years Andrea has practiced in community, long term care and acute care settings including medical, surgical and intensive care units throughout the province.

Since 2010 over 1000 patients have completed bariatric surgery in Manitoba. As this population continues to grow, pharmacists will play a key role in providing these patients with safe and effective medications, both pre-operatively and continuing post-operatively throughout their lifetimes.

Bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy is a stressful situation for many patients. The community pharmacist is in an opportune position to helpensure the patient slated to undergo the procedure is properly prepared both mentally and physically for the bowel preparation. This session will incorporate a team based approach to provide tools for the community pharmacist to utilize in their practice.
