Biography:

When Tim Smith graduated from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Pharmacy in 2009, he did not expect his career to lead him on so many adventures. Tim’s interest in social justice and clinical pharmacy practice were ignited during his time as a pharmacy manager serving fly-in First Nations from Sioux Lookout in northwestern Ontario. Much of his fifteen-year career has been spent working in, with, and for rural, remote and Indigenous communities, including five years as Director, Pharmacy Operations overseeing pharmacies serving more than 100 communities in five jurisdictions across northern Canada. With certifications in diabetes and tobacco education, as well as nutrition, sleep, stress management and recovery, Tim has pursued his personal and professional interests with passion.

Reinventing his career during the COVID-19 pandemic, Tim returned to front line practice, providing compassionate, patient-focused care as a relief pharmacist across Manitoba, the Northwest Territories and northwestern Ontario while also launching, with his partner Josee-Anne, Manitoba’s first clinical practice pharmacy, Simplicity Wellness. A former board member and Vice President of Pharmacists Manitoba, Tim became the organization’s first Pharmacy Practice Advisor to help launch Quit Smoking With Your Manitoba Pharmacist, the social impact bond for smoking cessation, and develop a comprehensive proposal for pharmacy access to care clinics across the province. In fall 2024, Tim launched a new chapter in his career, becoming the Territorial Director of Pharmacy for the Government of Nunavut and relocated to Iqaluit, where he and Josee-Anne now reside.

CONGRATULATIONS, TIM!
