Pharmacist of The Year Award
The Pharmacist of the Year award is presented annually to a Manitoba licensed pharmacist who, in the opinion of their peers, has made a significant contribution to the profession during their career.
Kathy Hunter
Kathy earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Manitoba in 1995. Over the course of her career, she has held a wide range of leadership roles within the pharmacy profession, including staff pharmacist, pharmacy manager, district manager, and Assistant Registrar of Field Operations.
She spent the majority of her career in community pharmacy practice and dedicated five years to working with the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba. During her time there, Kathy became a sought-after speaker, presenting at conferences on topics such as pharmacy management and compounding standards.
In 2021, Kathy returned to community pharmacy, where she successfully launched a new pharmacy with Red River Co-op at the height of the pandemic.
She recently co-authored the Manitoba pharmacy manager course and, in 2024, was appointed to the council of the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba, where she now serves as chair.
